The Nederlandsche Volksdienst, also known as the Dutch People’s Service (NVD), was founded in July 1941, following the example of the National Socialist Volkswohlfahrt in Nazi Germany. The founders of the NVD wanted to bundle all social work in the Netherlands in the NVD. The leader of the Dutch People’s Service was Frederik Willem van Vloten.
