German Luftwaffe EM/NCO Paratrooper Smock Eagle Patch


Machine embroidered, second pattern, (Circa 1936/1937-1945), Luftwaffe eagle. Silvery/grey rayon threads, mounted on a cut-out and sewn-edge woven Luftwaffe feldgrau fabric. Measures 75mm across wing-tips. Reverse shows the silver and grey distinct threads. Excellent condition and very rare eagle.

The Fallschirmjäger, were the paratrooper branch of the German Luftwaffe before and during World War II. They were the first paratroopers to be committed in large-scale airborne operations. Throughout World War II, the commander of the branch was Kurt Student, as he was the 2nd most senior officer in the Luftwaffe.
