This is a nicely BeVo-woven RAD (‘Reichsarbeitsdienst’) cap-badge. These badges were used on the RAD overseas cap. The badge is neatly maker marked and displays the interwoven ‘Ges.Gesch.’ marking often found on RAD badges. Very rare officer’s version with silver flat-wire construction.
The Reich Labor Service (Reichsarbeitsdienst; RAD) was a major paramilitary organization established in Nazi Germany as an agency to help mitigate the effects of unemployment on the German economy, militarise the workforce and indoctrinate it with Nazi ideology. It was the official state labor service, divided into separate sections for men and women.
