Very rare metal pip from the state of Hesse depicting the Hesse lion holding a swastika. Pip made in silvered Tombac and measures 15mm by 15mm. Both prongs on reverse in place. Likely for state police or special army units.
Pip, colloquial name for the star(s) worn on military uniform as part of rank badge, as in the British Army officer rank insignia or with many Commonwealth police agencies. Also, were used by German military and police in both WWI and WWII.
