The National Peasant Party was a far left-wing political party in Hungary between 1939 and 1949. It was led by the writer Péter Veres. The party was revived for a short time during the Hungarian Revolution of 1956 and after the end of communism in 1989–90. Despite being a socialist organization was supressed by the communists.
