German Early NSDAP Edelweiss Cap Badge Device

Original German NSDAP EDELWEISS CAP BADGE (Mützen Abzeichen). Made in two pieces with silvered “flower” and a separate gold center which incorporates the swastika. Measures 42mm across. Center secured with two prongs. Appears to have had a flat-wire attachment at one time, now gone – otherwise in excellent condition.
The political version of the cap Edelweiss was worn by many different organizations during the Third Reich period. NSDAP, HJ and SA to name a few. Specialized unit within these organization were permitted to wear the Edelweiss on either kepis, field caps or overseas caps. Silvered Tombac alloy construction. Stemless edelweiss features nine extended irregular petals. The reverse of the badge is complete with both attachment prongs. Unmarked. Enamel center swastika. 27mm across.
