A 1942-1943 German Eismeer Front Campaign Medal measuring 32mm in diameter. A German Mountain Troops edelweiss is to the front, while the reverse reads “1942 Eismeer front 1943”. Originally gilt, but most is gone despite still being in excellent condition.
Note: The Arctic Ocean Front (also: Liza or Murmansk Front) was a long-term front line between the German Wehrmacht and the Soviet Red Army in the greater Russia, Finland, and northern Norway area during World War II . The front line extended over several hundred kilometers in the Arctic tundra of the port city of Kirkenes on the Arctic Ocean over Petsamo and Rovaniemi.
