German Waffen-SS EM/NCO Steel Belt Buckle Unmarked Overhoff
This steel SS buckles is manufactured by Overhoff and is unmarked. The buckle is zinc coated with a dull silver finish. Much of the paint is missing from the flat surfaces on the front, while the reverse maintains a great deal of the original zinc and finish. Overall in very good and perfectly functional condition. Expresses what would be expected in wear of a field used piece of equipment. Bent catch with rounded edges.
The steel SS belt buckles were introduced in 1940. These were often finished with a zinc coating prior to their factory spray painted finish in grey, silver, green or blue.
The Waffen-SS (Armed SS) was the combat branch of the Nazi Party’s paramilitary Schutzstaffel (SS) organization. Its formations included men from Nazi Germany, along with volunteers and conscripts from both occupied and unoccupied lands. It was disbanded in May 1945.
