Constructed of Alpaca silver and marked with an A, black enamel, vertical coke bottle-style pinback, maker marked “STH” for Stahlhof Magdeburg on reverse, measuring 30 mm in diameter, in extremely fine condition with no issues with enamel. Numbered VI. Nrh. 325 and dated 15.5.28. The pin catch is missing.

Der Stahlhelm, Bund der Frontsoldaten (German: ‘The Steel Helmet, League of Front-Line Soldiers’), commonly known as Der Stahlhelm (‘The Steel Helmet’), was a German First World War veteran’s organisation existing from 1918 to 1935. In the late days of the Weimar Republic, it was closely affiliated to the monarchist German National People’s Party (DNVP), placed at party gatherings in the position of armed security guards (Saalschutz).
